I won’t pretend to be an expert here: Sean is the undisputed king of bull$#!& solutions with adhesive. And I say that with respect, as he can generally find a way to stick things together and save tons of time on any given project. Case in point: When I needed to quickly attach a cover plate over a hole in my ceiling — I moved a fixture and might want to move it back — Sean recommended Liquid Nails.

Chances are pretty good you don’t have a hanging ceiling anywhere in your house. Yet you should still have a roll of 12-gauge hanging wire out in the shop. It’s handy as hell for all sorts of tasks, from fishing wire through walls to holding things in place while you’re welding.

I found myself in the shop yesterday building a quick bracket to mount some equipment in the house. Because I have a ton of scrap metal lying around (and a nice MIG welder), I built it out of metal. I tacked together a couple of pieces of 1/8″ x 5″ flat bar to make a flat panel, and I was about to weld on a couple of pieces of 16-gauge square tube when I noticed a box sitting on the shelf above my shop sink: drill screws.
