So its name sounds like a condom brand, the company’s website looks like the owner’s nephew put it together on spring break, and the whole thing has an As Seen On TV!(tm) vibe. But if you like the idea of a larger end hook — like you’ll find on the newer Stanley Bostitch short tapes — and you’ve got a favorite tape that you don’t want to trade in until it finally gives up the ghost, the GripTip doesn’t seem like a bad idea. It’s just a little coin-like device you slip over your current tape’s tip, rendering it about the size of a quarter — and a lot less likely to slip off whatever you’re trying to measure.
