Let’s say for a minute your shop is lacking that certain “something” — something a pile of new tools could help cure. If that’s the case, you could enter the Woodcraft American Dream Shop sweepstakes going on now to November 30th, and land a new shiny palette-load of awesome in your shop.

The prize package (which sounds dirty if you think about it) breaks down like this:

The prize package totals $14,000. The American Dream Shop tool prize package includes a 3 HP Delta UNISAW with a 52 in. BIESEMEYER Fence System and mobile base; a 14 in. Band Saw; a 13 in. Portable Thickness Planer and stand; an 18 in. Laser Drill Press; a 12 1/2 in.Variable Speed Midi-Lathe and stand; and a 1-1/2 HP 1 Micron Dust Collector.

Now if that isn’t enough to get you worked up, the lucky winner also gets “a day with Scott Phillips” of American Woodshop fame. The press release expands on this a little by saying:

The winner will also be a guest of Scott Phillips on the set of his public television show, The American Woodshop, now entering its 18th season.

We’re guessing, translated into actual actions, you get to sit quietly on the set out of everyone’s way and watch Scott do some takes. However, that may be a bit cynical since even members of the press aren’t allowed take part in these things.

In any event, the sweepstakes is legit and looks like a sweet deal for the winner. The entry form is located on the Woodcraft.com site. Good luck!

In 8th grade ( I’m now in 10th) Scott Phillips came to our school to talk on hobby day. I was as star struck as iv’e ever been. I have been watching the american woodshop since I was 3. As it turns out Scott is close friends with the principal at the school. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to talk to him personally.

That Unisaw may just be the sweetest tool on the planet! The demo video on Delta’s website is worth a look.

      You’re right about that.

I just wish Delta’s new owners would update the site. Their social media links are pathetic. The Youtube page hasn’t been updated in well over a year. Twitter hasn’t tweeted since last December. The Facebook link is just a placeholder with a Wikipedia entry.

Hey Delta, just gimmie a Unisaw and I’ll manage all that stuff for ya.

With all the current buzz about CPSC action on tablesaw safety – I’m wondering about how long before the Unisaw is outlawed in its current form. For those of us who put Unisaws, Felders, Olivers. Powermatics and everything else – that isn’t a SawStop to commercial use – the CPSC and some other court actions have us concerned.

    • Rick says:

The Unisaw won’t go anywhere. At worse, Gass will get what he wants and all of the manufacturers will buy his flesh sensing technology or they will come up with their own.

The high end table saws will never leave the market because they are needed for manufacturing. However you can kiss the table top saws goodbye. Contractor and Hybrid saws will become a lot more expensive.
