One of the great joys in life is building something that would’ve cost you a load of cash to buy otherwise. Toolmonger reader 1200tec knows this chest-puffing truth because he just completed a set of built-ins that should keep just about any storage-happy household organized.

1200tec built eight sets of storage cabinets to fill in around a centerpiece TV mount that sports his flat-screen. Instead of stopping there, he also laid the crown down along the top and built and installed doors across the bottom. A little paint action and suddenly he’s managed to fly by all his neighbors’ aspirations of what an entertainment wall should look like, all while spending less than a trip to Ikea would have gotten for the same type of thing that would fall apart two weeks later.

We’d say well done and enjoy it, but we can see from the last picture in the group you’re already doing that — so let’s just say we hope the beer is cold.

    @ brew,
I hear you, I have been hanging crown awhile and the problem I had was my walls and ceilings aren’t straight or level. By the time I got to the moldings I was burnt out, so I wasn’t interested in making 20 cuts to get the right angle if you know what i mean. Plus nothing a little caulk cant fix πŸ™‚
