You Got Your Key In My Multi-Tool…
We’ve seen mods where people have modified their keys to fit into a Leatherman-like multi-tool, but yesterday Lifehacker featured the KeyTool Keyring Multi-tool from ThinkGeek, which wraps around an unaltered key.
Constructed from 422 stainless steel, this diminutive 1.97″ by 0.79″ multitool packs in 8 different functions.
- Large slotted screwdriver
- Medium slotted screwdriver
- Small slotted screwdriver
- Nail file
- Nail cleaner
- Bottle opener
- Wire cutters
- Tweezers
The KeyTool comes with a keyring clip and fake key, but since the whole concept behind this tool is to be as minimalist as possible, you’ll probably want to ditch those and use the KeyTool over one of your regular keys. Sorry to be a tease, but unfortunately the tool is out of stock right now. When it is back in stock in 1 to 3 weeks, it’ll run you $10 plus $6 shipping.

Sixteen bucks??? Yeah, right. I’d pass it up if it were $2.50.

I really want a sharp tool in my pocket right next to the family jewels…
I bet they charge 5 bucks, for shipping, too…
I think it’s kinda sorta cool, but agreed, at $16, it’s insane.
It’s half that here: http://www.vat19.com/dvds/keytool-bottle-opener-multi-tool.cfm without shipping.
Still too high for me though.
I just bought one of these and it’s tiny. I also bought a Swiss-Tech Utilikey from thinkgeek at the same time and much prefer it. It has a permanent spot on my keyring.

I also bought 5 Figure 9 Caribiner’s which are AWESOME. Great for quickly securing stuff in the back of my car.

+1 for the Utilikey. I use mine on a weekly basis, and have never had any problems with security at airports taking it, etc. Sure, its not a leatherman, but its a pretty capable little tool.
