Awesome Tools has an even better price (better than any other resellers) on the Thumbsaver TS001 Magnetic Nail Setter Bonus Pack, at $10.95.

We’ve covered the Thumbsaver when it was $20.00, and when it was $12.95, but it appears the deals just get better the longer it’s been on the market. Expect it to be $6.00 by 2012! For those of you who bought it, how do you find it works? It’s also available on Amazon for $12.95 but w/ SS shipping. It is definitely well rated on Amazon.

can anyone verify that you can do the same by grinding/filing a groove in a magnet of your own and epoxying the magnet to the end of a dowel?

This could be handy for siding when someone buys the 1 -1/4″ instead of 2″ roofing nails.

I can make one for under $4

This is great for women and small children.

    1. Great for kids – eliminates the fear that makes them reluctant to swing properly, saves on trips to the Dr.

    2. Re: making your own with a dowel – the secret of this device is that the arm is thick aluminum, so when the hammer misses the nail and hits the stick (the purpose of it, after all) the stick is not harmed. If you used a wooden dowel, the hammer would break it after a couple of hits.

    Cardboard is free.
