I just came back from my annual stocking-stuffer trip during which I noticed that Wal-Mart is selling a Stanley Tool Box combo for $9. The first tool box is a Stanley model 19151. I could not find that specific number on the web, including on the Stanley site, but their model 19013, shown above, appears to be almost identical: plastic, approx. 19″ × 10″ × 9″ with a removable tool tray, two built-in organizers on top, and two metal latches. Wal-Mart’s combo puts a Stanley model 13004 (approx. 12″ × 5″ × 5″; simple plastic box with plastic latch and no tool tray) inside the model 19151. The label on the combo said “made in the USA with global materials.” Just so no one is confused by the picture, the tools and parts are not included.

If you received one of those Wal-Mart $5 gift cards in the mail, you can use it to scoop up this combo for only $4. I don’t know about you, but I find it really handy to have a bunch of smaller tool boxes for things like emergency supplies in the vehicles, separate places for my digital multimeters and accessories, and so on. Plus, at this price, you can grab some for gifts.

does anyone else find it ironic that this was posted right after a box that many toolmongers would pay upwards of $100 for?

Yeah – and after talking about Kennedy Kits rolling cabs – and comparing to the likes of Stanley Vidmar (not to confused with Plastic Stanley-Zag – made in Israel ) and Lista. But tthere is something utilitarian about plastic toolboxes. We bring several multi-compartment Stanley plastic parts boxes filled with screw assortments, short (leftover) nail strips, staples etc. to most jobsites.

Warm to hot. I got one for Christmas a few years ago. Not much to it, but it’s held up well. It’s usually empty and I fill it with purposed tools and supplies when I’ve got to head out to to fix something.

I’ll probably pick up a couple to leave one in the barn, one in the pumphouse with they plan that they collect tools over time and save me trips back to the house.

  4. A friend gave me one of these tool boxes and I need both the left and right compartment covers for the top.Any info to get these would help.Thanks….

This deal is still good at Walmart. I just picked up the combo. Part numbers are 19005 for the big one and 13004 for the smaller one inside. The 19005 alone costs more than the Walmart price. There’s no info about the 13004 on Stanley’s site. Both are made by a company called Zag in the US for Stanley. The 19″ box is more sturdy than anything I found in this price range at Lowes or Home Depot. I can’t say the same for the smaller box, but hey, it’s free.
