Doh! Gas Station Disaster
Okay, so we’re not condoning laughing at someone else’s injuries. But in this case, it’s too, um, educational not to watch. This video shows a guy, presumably in England, who decides a good place to light up is right on top of a Shell fuel truck. Ahh, Darwin. Is there anything you can’t prove?
Shell Garage [YouTube]
Definitely not in England. We drive on the left here and the driver got out of the left side of the cab not the right. The forecourt guy’s wearing a t-shirt which should’ve been the real givaway, far too cold here. Saudi plates I reckon.
He’s using a lighter to see down into the tank…that is DUM-B. Adding to the irony are all the “grand opening” balloons festooning the pumps.
hmm i wonder what’s down here in this giant truck marked flammable. what an oxygen thief!!
Amazing… I didn’t think it was possible to be THAT stupid…
Sam: You’re right, I can’t believe I missed that! The guy who put up the video used the words “lorry” and “petrol” and I didn’t bother to put together the fact that the driver was on the left.
WWWCD? (What Would Wiley Coyote Do?)
That guy must have been pretty dumb to use a lighter to check the contents of a fuel storage tank. Everyone knows you should only use matches.
I particularly enjoyed the way he rolled on the ground to extinguish the flames – right to the end of the hose on the ground, causing it to start belching more flames at him.
Great safety measures. Flames right near the top of the canopy and no supression.
This almost looks intentional.
I get that it looks like he is using a lighter to check the tank, but it is pretty vague. Maybe he was using a flashlight (torch?) and knocked it on something making a spark? Hard to believe anyone working around large volumes of fuel could be THAT stupid as to use a flame source to look in a fuming gas tank. Lack of flame suppression is tragic.
This entire installation looks to be missing any safety features. Training is obviously lacking.
The only lorries (trucks) you’ll see in the UK that aren’t cab over engine are tow trucks for other lorries. You’ll never see a fuel tanker or artic with an American style cab.
