Turn Your Recip Saw Into A Power Rasp
By Benjamen Johnson On March 23, 2009 · 4 Comments · In Abrasives, Accessories, Amazon, Paws Off, Saws

The versatility of the reciprocating saw puts it on the list of must-have tools, but here’s one use we bet you hadn’t thought about: power rasp! Paws Off manufactures a rasp blade that fits most reciprocating saws, for if you ever need to remove some wood in a hurry.
Attach the Woodhog-Rasp to clean out notches, round over edges and corners, or shape curves faster than a hand-held rasp and without banging your knuckles.
We’ve yet to see pictures of the other side of the rasp, so we’re not sure if it’s curved or flat, or if it even has teeth, but if the Woodhog fills a need that you didn’t even know you had, you can pick it up for around $27.

Looks interesting.
We have an old Bosch 329EVS in-line jig saw (too bad its no longer made) that we use with their inline rasp blade (T332)

Rasps and files are designed to work on the push stroke, and cutting on the pull stroke can damage them.
I wonder how the teeth on this item are designed to cut, since the recip saw of course has both push and pull strokes, and fast ones at that.
A potentially great idea that falls surprisingly short.
Only if the rasp’s working surface was in a horizontal plane — perpendicular to the shank’s vertical plane — and reinforced by a top rib extending out from the shank. As is, seems if you ‘bear down’ you’d kink the shank.
Being in a hurry to remove a lot of wood (or stone with Paws Off masonry blades) sounds like being in a hurry to go to the emergency room.
Please — I need a reciprocating rasp blade now! How can I get one please?
