I used to do some work fixing gear for the restaurant industry, and during those years I had stories — good stories, the kind that no one believes when you tell ’em at parties, but they’re completely true. I thought that was pretty cool, but the stories one gets when this toolshed boxcar for the Ringling Bros. circus is in action must be wildly entertaining.

For some reason I picture a grizzled old handyman rubbing his chin and asking pointed questions about very real problems — things like, “Hmm, how many times did Coco the knife-throwing monkey stab this particular item?”

I suspect there’s both equipment and tools in that car that serve a very real purpose none of us could begin to fathom. Hats off to whatever crew is working this scene. Whatever they’re being paid, it’s most likely not enough.

Having known some carnies, you might be over-romantiiczing things just a bit. I’d expect to find lots and lots of of-brand duct tape and bailing wire in there.

OK, O’hara. You can’t throw that out there and then not deliver at least 1 story. Just 1? Please?
