Grabbing and holding small components with tweezers is hard enough in good light, but if you’re working in a poorly lit and confined space don’t worry about grabbing the flashlight — grab a pair of illuminated tweezers instead.

Push the on/off switch on General’s Illuminated Tweezers and place a spotlight on what you’re grabbing with its built-in white LED flashlight.  The heat-treated steel tweezers are coated with a flat black finish that resists corrosion and won’t produce glare.  Non-slip cushion grips make these tweezers comfortable to use.  Three included LR44 batteries power the light.

General sells its Illuminated Tweezers with serrated blunt, serrated bent, and smooth pointed tips.  You’ll spend $11 for any of the three with a flat rate of $8 shipping.  Don’t even bother trying to find another source by searching Google Products or Amazon — all you get are women’s hygiene products, not real tools.

This looks like a very interesting product.

As a rule, I try to avoid shortcuts or accessories that could diminish the level of attention or patience tyically required when dealing with delicate items or work that requires increased precision or accuracy. Still, these tweezers intrigue me.

I wonder how well these work in close quarters. Do you suppose that they illuminate a wide area, or are they limited to illuminating a small area in vicinity to the tips?

I might be interested in these, except that the only dimensions they give is the length — 6.5″. Great. How big/thick are the tips? When you’re talking about precision tools those dimensions matter a lot.
