We love super glue’s fast-drying stick-damn-near-anything-together rep.  But we’re less than thrilled about its brittle nature.  Gorilla’s new super glue incorporates tiny rubber particles to make the dried glue slightly flexible — rendering it more impact resistant than the normal stuff.  It’s much thicker, too, so it doesn’t run as easily.

While we haven’t published a full hands-on yet, we have played with some Gorilla super glue in the shop and we’re impressed.  It’s handy from time to time, and it’s always great to have another glue option on the shelf. And since it’s too gooey to easily squirt into open wounds, Sean leaves it alone.  Expect to pay around $4 for a bottle.

Tried it on grandson’s toy car WORKS GREAT. Supreme test will be when he plays with it again.

Hobby shops are also a good source of cyanoacrylates. I like Zap, they offer many different types of “super glue” like slow setting, gel, gap filling, and flexible. And if the glue sets up to slow for you they even offer an accelerator.

    That’s a big word, where’s my dictionary…

So Sean uses superglue instead of bandaids too? I think it works great for that – closes the cut, protects it, and doesn’t even make it scar. Beats having a bandage on it that just attracts moisture and greasy dirt, before it catches on something and tears the cut open again.

It wokrs great for wouds, infact there are companies that make this stuff in mdeical grade for just that….

But the goriila sounds good because of it being not so brittle

The RN around here says “Clean the wound VERY well and only apply glue to surface layer of skin. You really don’t want to internally poison yourself” RN says I can poison myself anytime- the insurance is paid up.

Medical grade is just more expensive package of identical product.

Stings like crazy, though. And if it’s still bleeding, the glue will cure up instantly on EVERY surface but the wound itself. Which means you end up picking off huge brown scabby-looking things and your hand looks like Amityville Horror.

Am I the only guy who dosen’t know what that word means?

ethyl-2-cyanoacrylate is what Krazy and super glue are made of.

2-octyl cyanoacrylate is what Liquid Skin, Dermabond, and Traumaseal are made of.
