Joe Tool Company is selling KD Tools’ radiator hose pinch-off pliers for $12.  When you’re working on a car part that has fluid-filled hoses feeding into it, you can save yourself some trouble by just shutting off the hose instead of draining the whole system.

I’ve had a lot of experience with these type tools working on class 8 trucks. In my experience, there is a reason these are $12! There are a great tool poorly executed. They tend to flex, releasing the clamped hose and the handles will bend at the pivot. The work reasonably well for smaller hoses like heater and vacuum hoses, but just aren’t substantial enough for regular use on the larger sizes. I have a couple pair of Mac pliers that use a friction lock and work/have worked great for many years. This would be good for your emergency tool kit that you keep in your trunk/toolbox, but just don’t have what it takes for day-to-day use. A prime example of you get what you pay for! Might be okay for the casual user.

For my occasional use a couple scraps of wood and clamps work just fine.
