You can convert your quick-clamp-type bar clamp to act as a spreader, but that function seems like little more than an afterthought — on most dual-purpose bar clamps you have to take the clamp apart and put it together backwards.  With Gator Clamp’s Clamp N Spread, it’s obvious from the get-go they designed these clamps to quickly change from clamping to spreading.

Both the stationary and moving jaws of the Clamp N Spread have two faces: one for clamping and one for spreading.  To switch from clamping to spreading, just flip a lever, then squeeze the handles to move the traveling jaw.  Gator Clamp claims their unique leaf-spring mechanism achieves both a large clamping force and an outstanding march — the distance the jaw travels with each squeeze.

Gator Clamp offers the Clamp N Spread in 12″, 18″, 24″, 28″, 36″, and 40″ sizes.  Right now at Amazon the 18″ Clamp N Spread will cost you about $14 and the 36″ about $30.

Good price but I wonder where they are made?

  2. Good question, but like I said in a previous post, if the company says where the product is made I try to include it in the post, although sometimes I do forget. If they don’t say where it’s made it’s probably not made in the USA.

In this case the manufacturer is silent on the origin

If somebody has one of these clamps, please let us know if it says anything on the clamp itself.

I have some bessy DUO clamps that do a simliar job, nice to have but really spreading is done a lot less that clamping. So i like the bessey because its primary function is to clamp. but still all clamps are useful
