Wearing a respirator mask usually involves fumbling with irritating stretchy straps, followed by muffled grumbling. AO Safety eliminates this frustration with their Quicklatch respirator — instead of grabbing for nylon bands, you tighten and loosen the mask with a flip latch.

It works a lot like a normal mask, but the upper band is hooked into a latch that, when in the closed position, tightens the mask snug to your face. When you open the latch the band slides loose, releases the tension on the mask, and allows it to slide free.

It’s at the very least an interesting idea. The casual user might not find the Quicklatch respirator a worthwhile addition, but it doesn’t cost much more than the standard models, and the lack of hassle could mean a lot to guys who use one every day.

I use one of these and it’s pretty nice when you constantly remove your mask, especially when its hot.

I tried one of these a couple of years ago because it was the only respirator in stock at Lowe’s. It’s made of hard plastic, and I found it uncomfortable and difficult to seal tightly to my face. I replaced it with a 3M 7500 series (their top of the line half-mask) which has a soft, silicone face seal — much, much more comfortable. About the same price, too, but I had to buy it from a mail-order industrial safety catalog.

To be fair, the Quicklatch does go on and come off quickly.

I got one of these a few years back as a free sample. Does everything it’s supposed to do for me. I don’t use it on a daily basis, so take it with a grain of salt. The quicklatch works very well.

I have one of these and I love it. The quick release is great in hot climate, and it easily adjustable. For the wood worker who only needs it on during cerain tasks, or maybe a drywaller, this is a great feature. The flap is easy to move and quickly releases and re-adjusts. A fantastic product highly recomended

I use one of these all the time. I dont know what the commenter above is talking about the thing being hard plastic… Mine is rubber and fits pretty well. Of course there is an outer plastic shell that holds the screw-in cans etc, but I can’t see how that would change the fit.

Does ColeParmer.com sell a similar mask? I’ve bought a few from them, and have been happy with their product quality.
