Stabila Mason's Levels

Mason’s levels take a beating, so they have to be ruggedly designed. They get banged, dropped, and covered in dirt and mortar. If this sounds like how you treat your level, you might be interested in Stabila’s line of mason levels.

These lightweight German-made levels have a strong frame, and they feature a blow shield designed to be hit with a trowel. The rubber end caps are removable and replaceable, and the 36″ and 48″ levels sport centered handholds. Stabila manufactures the vials from solid acrylic and places the horizontal vial so it’s easy to read standing up. The smooth construction of the level body and the vials makes removing mortar easy.

The type 196K level comes in four lengths: 16″, 24″,36″, and 48″. Prices range from $60 for the shortest to $120 for the longest. If you have any problems with the accuracy of the level, Stabila will replace it — but if you bend it, you’re on your own.

We have more Stabila Levels than any other brand – based on their accuracy and longevity on the jobsite. Our finish carpentry trucks all have Jamber sets – while our plumbers tend to favor some odd sizes like 59 inch that work well in tub surrounds. We also use their plate levels on commercial framing jobs.

You can usually find good deals on sets. I don’t recall ever buying just one Stabila at a time. Check Amazon.
I like their torpedo level (25010) as it fits in my tool pouch loop.
Great rotary laser levels too. Not to mention their electronic version, which comes in really handy when your working alone.
