Rubbermaid Seven-Gallon Water Cooler

If you haven’t got your summer hydration plan in place yet, take a look at this deal. Wal-Mart is selling this seven-gallon water/beverage cooler for $30, online only, with free shipping to their stores. Searching for this type of cooler for my own hydration plan, I found lots of options with street pricing much higher than this — on a dollars per gallon basis, this is a steal. I just wish these suckers were rated on some kind of insulation scale.
If smaller is better, you can get a five-gallon cooler on Amazon for $22.

…and, if it matters to you, I’m pretty sure these are made in the US – specifically, Winfield, Kansas.
I have a Commercial Water Cooler by Igloo. This is the one you see on jobsites and on utility trucks.

Spend a day on the tarmac of a cruise-in when it’s 85-90 and I guarantee you’ll make room for one of these the next time.
Rubbermaid Coolers are fantastic, I’ve got a five gallon strapped to the front of the truck in the summer and I’ve used the same one for 5 summers now and its like new, I highly recommend them. In fact sometimes even when I get to my kid’s ball game in the afternoon, the water is still cold that went in that morning.
As a side note though, even if you end up paying a few more dollars its well worth buying them from some place other than Wal-Mart. Never could get behind supporting places like that.
I bought the Home Depot branded version of the 5 gallon Rubbermaid cooler for $19. I use it more than my MaxCold Igloo version because the MaxCold doesn’t have a screw on lid (as I found out at 70 mph — this is important.)
wow, you can put water in these?
they make great spodi coolers…or sangria. of course, haven’t done that in a while =P
Last month on I-10, I was passed by a welder’s truck sporting one of the old-style corrugated galvanized coolers. ( http://www.amazon.com/Igloo-631-3-Gallon-Standing-Cooler/dp/B00002ND4Z )
Remembering one from my past, I lusted mightily and put my Google-Fu into play without dice. They’re discontinued.
The metal, the logo sticker, the whole businesslike package – Igloo would do well to reissue.
If I can’t find one, the yellow and red standby will do. Something about drinking out of a conical cup…
