Here’s a familiar scenario: you want to install a shelf, or a flat-screen TV mount, or something else with those little slots or hooks for wall mounting. You measure the distance between the slots and put some screws in the wall with that same distance between them. But when you go to mount it on the wall, the two screws don’t line up, and even if they do they aren’t level. Black & Decker’s 3′ Accu Mark Gecko Grip level ends this common frustration — and keeps you from scarring up your walls with unneeded holes.

The level features two adjustable targets to measure your wall mount’s spacing. Simply align the level’s targets with the wall mount, hold the level against the wall, and mark the surface with a pencil — then hang your object, with accurate results.

Street pricing is around $15.

Nice, but I find a piece(s) of painters tape on the top of the level works as well and allows me to choose what length level to use. Since the tape is on the top of the level it’s easy to make marks exactly where the holes, hangers are. I’m not sure lining the targets up would be as accurate.

Not a bad idea, but I solve this problem by putting pencil marks on my level. when I used to wall mount equipment. I put permanent marks on my level with labels for the corresponding equipment.

I received one as a gift and didn’t think much of it. But it does work as advertised and does solve a fairly common problem. There’s obviously some other ways to solve this issue but B&D did a good job with this one.
