When a bolt falls into the depths of your engine block, fish it out with a flashlight — that’s the idea behind the CatsPaw telescoping magnetic flashlight. It sounds a bit strange, but combining a light with a magnetic grabber does free up one hand, which could actually be helpful.

You release the telescoping action by turning the grooved dials on the tube. The light extends from 7-1/2″ to 22-3/8″ for a long reach into hard-to-get-to places. The magnet, located in the head with the LED bulb, can pull up to five pounds — so it shouldn’t have any trouble with those runaway fasteners.

Though it looks pretty handy to have around, keep in mind that golden color will get dirty pretty fast around the grease and oil normally associated with auto work.
