Glove Winner: Built In Entertainment Center

This entertainment center is a great example of making an odd space a usable center piece. Most folks just stuff plants under the stairs or use to store boxes of junk. Oooboooe and hs friend Dave (pictured here) decided to make a 30 draw monster out of the unused space.
Some of the draws are combined into one but it’s still huge. The best part is the access door the guys built in the back to get at cables. Now that’s thinking.

Oops. Looks like you left in the description from the previous winner. I was wondering how you could possibly describe this drool-worthy built-in as rough and hasty.
Yeah, those drawers are hardly “rough.” Looks like great work on those.
Heh, I wish my “rough” shop shelves looked as nice as these. But then they wouldn’t be shop shelves.
This is a sweet-looking entertainment center. Looks like you just need to fix the cut/paste error. 🙂
hey, I won a glove giveaway a few weeks ago. How do I claim my prize?
Keith, I got the notification in my flickr inbox. If you didn’t, send a message through flickr to this guy: http://flickr.com/people/8656184@N08/
I really like the look of many small drawers. It’s something that was common decades ago but has fallen out of fashion today. Nice the way they were incorporated into a modern piece of furniture.
Thanks for the kind words! Since they goofed up the caption on my 15 minutes of fame (just my luck), here’s my description from the flickr posting:
My friend Dave, who helped me build this built-in entertainment center, poses. Yes, those are real drawers! Most of them store sheet music, but the bottom two rows are actually single drawers with false fronts, sized to store DVDs.
It’s built into an alcove under our stairwell (hence the angled part above the built-in). Since it completely fills the space, we cut a small door through the back of a closet into the space behind the built-in, to make it easy to wire things up.
Sorry about the flash flare – I’m a woodworker, not a photographer!
Give ’em 2 pairs of gloves since that project is WAY better looking than most of the projects put up here! So, a 6 pack of your choice of beer and a pizza if build one for my house. Good beer… cooooooold beer. 🙂
I love it. I had to go with a regular tv stand for my entertainment center i would have loved a built in. nice job!
