Holding a door open doesn’t seem like such a big deal, until you realize that, for a firefighter, a pinched hose or blocked escape route can mean the difference between life and death. And firefighters would rather prop a door open than chop it off its hinges — it’s faster and easier! I was struck by the number and variety of doorstops offered at TheFireStore.com.

TheFireStore is entirely too dangerous to my bank balance, please stop featuring cool things there.

  2. Skorgu, you and me both! I love specialized tools, and they sure have a lot of them. Although, my discretionary spending for the next few months is already committed, so I have to be a good boy. For now…

Anyway, learning about them is almost as fun as owning them. Just seeing how someone else solved a problem makes us all more capable of applying diverse solutions when we encounter them, right? I just tell myself that when tools aren’t in the budget, anyway…
