Earlier this year Sean complained about manufacturers wanting “twenty-freakin’-dollars” for soft-jaw pliers. Well, Sean, I’ve found a solution for you (and all you other cheap-ass Toolmongers). Hawk makes what they call “premium grade” non-marking, nylon-jawed jeweler’s pliers — which can be found online for just $7.
From the research I’ve done, it appears Hawk makes cheap knock-off tools. But with no web presence or other contact info I can’t be sure. That doesn’t mean that these pliers don’t beat the living crap out of having to find and fit your pliers with some jaw covers every time you need to handle something delicate.
I’m not going repeat some snow job about how these pliers are precision-machined because for $7 we know that’s just marketing speak. The pliers do feature spring-loaded handles and nylon covered jaws, though — what you’d expect for non-marking pliers.
Buy a pair of these for next time you need to work on delicate/soft pieces.
