Dealmonger: Black and Decker Project Kit

This drill/driver “project kit” from Black & Decker is currently $13 over at Amazon. The set contains hex bits, masonary bits, a magnetic bit holder, hole saws, and it comes in a free standing case. Sure, it’s probably at least partly junk, but remember: the great thing about sets like this is that you’re not heart-broken when you lose or snap a bit or snap a bit.

Umm, first you said it doesn’t contain crap masonry bits, and then you said it does…
Justin: That’s my fault, and that’s what happens when I edit without coffee. Thanks for the catch. 🙂
I bought some B&D bits with a B&D drill one time. I’m not a big user of drills, but I immediately saw that the B&D stuff was crap. If I could tell they sucked, I’m sure no Toolmonger will want to use them. The drill was nice, but had to get some good bits for it.
I really hate these terrible combo kits. I’ve found that thanks to the fine folks over at harbor freight I can buy the few oddball things I seldom use (hole saw, spade bits, masonry bits) for a few bucks and I can save the rest of my money to put towards one good set of all purpose titanium coated drill bits and a whole mess of phillips 1 and 2 bits. The problem with these sets is that you will only EVER use half, and the half that does get used is hardly worth a damn.
