TM reader and photo pool member Coalandice posted some cool pics of his old tools, including this one of five different hand drills.  He also posted some great comments with the photo.  He writes: “These exhibit one of the things about late 19th and eary 20th century manufactured goods that interests me: the bright colors and unnecessary flourishes of the drive wheels.”

Another fun comment: “‘Hand drill’ is one of those phrases that makes me smirk, kinda like ‘Baby Oil.’ They’re not meant to make holes in hands, but doubtless they have at one time or another.”  Man, I totally had that same thought — right after I put a bit into my hand with the hand drill I had as a kid.
