Yesterday I wrote about my dream media blaster, and our friend Joel Miller — an industrial designer from NYC that we met when he built a couple of awesome Guitar Hero controllers for the same charity we did a while back — posted a picture of his to the photo pool. Thanks, Joel, for sending me back to reality; this is totally the kind of rig I need.
My favorite part: the stand. Why pay $300 for a steel stand that you can make from $10 worth of lumber and $4 worth of screws from Lowe’s? Though I’d probably fire up the welder and build one from the tons of 16-gauge 1″ square tube we keep around the shop — you’ll notice that most of our projects are built from it — there’s nothing in the world wrong with using wood.
For those who missed it, Joel also joined in on yesterday’s thumbs up post to DIYers who work without trucks, posting some photos of his Beetle loaded for battle.
If you get a chance, check out all the other great photos in the pool — or maybe join and add your own.
