Dealmonger: An Adjustable Angle Welding Magnet For $6
In light of the recent Toolmonger talk about welding, here’s a cool welding magnet from SLG Tools for just $6.10. I’ve seen a number of right-angle magnets — they’re incredibly handy as a “third hand” to hold steel in place while you weld” — but this looks great for when you’re not making a 90-degree connection. The magnet is rated up to 125 pounds and swivels 360 degrees.

here’s a question for everyone who uses positioning magnets like these. What’s the best way to remove all the metal filings that these invariably pick up that act like little bearings and make what ever you are trying to hold slide out of position?
Duct tape.
Eric: What Chris said. Works for me.
I tried it last night, worked like a charm. Thanks!
I have a small plastic bristle brush, that fits in the grooves. I hold the magnet over my “metal waste” can, and brush the filings into the can. I like the duct tape idea though, have to give that a try ….
