We asked all you Toolmongers out there about a couple of products recently, and here’s what you told us:
Harbor Freight Torque Wrenches: Not.
Everyone agreed that if you’re using a torque wrench, you need accuracy — and accuracy doesn’t come in packages this cheap.
Plastic Miter Boxes As An Economy Options: Hot.
Though Toolmongers recommend stepping up to a metal box if you can afford it, the consensus says that plastic boxes work — as long as you don’t mind replacing them pretty regularly. And for Toolmongers on a $0 budget, one commenter recommends simply making your own.
Kobalt’s Hat Light: Hot.
A surprising number of readers own this hat — or Craftsman’s version of it — and had good things to say about it. Some, however, complained about its non-removable batteries and recommended a readily-available clip-on version for better servicability.
Black & Decker’s Alligator Lopper: Both.
The few commenters who own a ‘Lopper loved it while those who don’t almost universally disliked it, citing either disdain for “safety chainsaws,” corded lawn tools, or the ‘Lopper’s graphics. If you’re thinking about buying one, you might want to read all these comments to make up your own mind.
