This cleverly-designed drum dolly lets you rock a drum from standing to horizontal with almost no effort, then wheel it around and put it back down — or drain liquid out of it in the horizontal position.

It’s totally one of those “why didn’t I think of that” tools, and its real beauty lies in the simplicity of its design and function.  Roll the Rock-It (on its caster wheels) up to a drum and its dolly-style lip slips right under the drum.  You can then hold the drum to the rails and tip the dolly forward.  The Rock-It’s curved steel bars roll the drum into the horizontal position smoothly with hardly any effort, then cradle it there for use or transport.

The manufacturer claims that the Rock-it will support half a ton and makes event the heaviest 55-gallon drum completely portable over short distances.

Of course, if you turn green and people “wouldn’t like you when you’re angry,” you probably don’t need one of these.  If not, you’re probably better off with a Rock-It than with a standard dolly that leaves you high and dry when it comes time to lift the drum.  And for less than $60, there really isn’t a reason not to pick one up.

Unless, of course, you build your own.

If this actually works that well, then it’s an amazing idea. After lugging 25 barrels of thermal oil round a ship, anything would be of help.

Wow, this one strikes me as incredibly clever.

    They work great.
