On occasion, I’ve been the victim of hot metal around the shop. These 2nd skin bandages look like a better solution that gauze and tape. Created especially for the first-aid treatment of minor burns, it’s made of an absorbent gel-type material that’s mostly water. It also has anti-bacterial substances in the pad to help keep your wound clean.
“Hydrogel” products like 2nd Skin have been used in hospitals for years and are preferred because — unlike ordinary dry bandages — they don’t stick and re-injure a healing wound. (Read: They don’t hurt like hell when you peel them off.)
They’re also quite reasonably priced, starting at around $4 for a box of three 4″x3″ pads.
