The Woodworking Show is making a stop at the Ohio Expo Center & State Fair in Columbus this weekend.  If nothing else, it looks like a great place to check out (and geek out on) woodworking tools.  They’ll also have classes and clinics, though they do cost more than the basic admission.

Adult admission — a 3-day pass — costs $7, while parking is $4.  (Carpool!)  Most seminars cost $55 each and cover topics such as basic veneering, joinery, and design.  Be sure and check for seating availability before you go if you’re planning on attending one or more seminars.

This is a great show! I’ve been for the past several years and am really looking forward to checking out some of the new tools in person. It’s a great place to demo stuff that you can’t find a local dealer for or might order online. Even if you don’t do the shows, it’s worth it for the booths.

I’ll be going tomorrow (Sunday) to check it out… the Ohio State Fairgrounds is literally right next to my workplace, so i can park there for free 😀

Any of you other toolmongers want to find me, i’ll be the 6’2″ tall white dude with long hair, glasses, and a big nikon camera… and i’ll probably be drooling over some tool 🙂

I was somewhat disappointed in the show this year. Neither Makita or Bosch had a corporate booth, both relied on dealers to show their tools with mediocre displays. Rockler was also missing, and Lee Valley had massively scaled back their booth.

On the plus side, their were a lot more demos and seminars than in past years and every third booth wasn’t selling a laser to bolt to a tool as in past years. This was also the busiest show I’d been to- we waited in line 30 minutes to buy tickets 20 minutes after it started. If I was going again I’d take Friday afternoon off work and buy my tickets online before leaving.

  5. that is an event worth attending…

  6. i would love to attend one of those…
