This totally looks like something we’d cook up in the shop a week before Christmas when we’re under massive pressure from the family to put the tree up because we’ve been, um, busy with something or the other and haven’t yet gotten around to it.

We found this when we were poking around Grip-on’s (incredibly infuriating totally Flash-based) website looking at their clamps.  Besides trying (in vain, we believe) to ride Snap-on’s coattails with their “Trademark infringement?  Who me?” name, Grip-on’s strategy seems to be develop and sell anything we can think of and do with locking pliers.

Sadly, we couldn’t find these on sale anywhere.  We’re aware that some of you out there have net searching skills that exceed our own, so we’ll ship out a little prize to the first reader who comments with the price and a link to anyone selling one of these.

Don’t get too excited — it’s not going to be a combo kit or anything.  We’re just gonna grab something from the “already tested and don’t need to return” pile.  But still, free tools are free tools.

If you’d like to see the actual link, well, we can’t give it to you because you can’t direct link to anywhere in the site.  So, you’ll have to follow the link to Grip-on below, select your language, click on “New Products,” then look for it in the list on the left.  Happy hunting.

This Site Sux [Grip-on]

Update: If you post a comment with an affiliate link (i.e. you make money when someone buys the tool from the link) we’re gonna remove the link and no-prizee-for-you.  Shame.

Another Update: Rich wins the prize, having found the stand for $49 “delivered to your door.”  Link below.  Thanks, Rich!

Isn’t it amazing how many Christmas tree stands the world has known? Build a better mousetrap? This looks like it may be the one!

Hmmm. Not sure I can agree with you here…

Besides, Snap-on can’t be too upset since they have Grip-on make re-badged locking plier for them!

By all accounts, these are VERY good locking pliers. (No comment on the tree stand!)
