When I covered a cigarette lighter flashlight a while ago, many people commented that it was a cool idea, but it just wasn’t executed very well. Maybe rather than having your flashlight live in your cigarette lighter, it might be more practical to take a regular-looking flashlight and build in an auto adapter so it can be recharged right in your car without any special cables. Yesterday we posted a Mastercraft tool from Canadian Tire that turned an ordinary drill into a hammer drill. Today we look at their impact driver adapter, which turns a drill into an impact driver and supposedly can increase its torque by an order of magnitude.

If you only need a hammer drill occasionally, perhaps you could get by with this Mastercraft hammer drill adapter. After chucking the adapter into your drill, you activate the hammering action by holding onto the adapter while you operate the drill.

The adapter requires a drill with at least a 3/8″ chuck. If you want to use the adapter with a cordless drill it should probably be a 12V or higher model. Canadian Tire retails this hammer drill adapter for $25. And for some reason, Duluth Trading Company charges $35 for their seemingly identical version.
