DeWalt’s New “Oxford” Work Shoe

DeWalt recently released a whole slew of heavily-branded shoes intended for various work tasks.  Our favorite: the “High Performance Lightweight Oxford” in black (pictured).  It reminds us more of a Timberland hiking shoe than what appears in our minds when we think “work shoe,” but kudos to DeWalt for offering something a little different.

Finds: Magnum Work Boots

I catch some hell for wearing these — my friends call ‘em “cop boots.”  But what they really are is majorly comfortable.  They’re called “tactical boots,” and they’re designed to feel like sneakers but give you the protection of boots.

So yeah, they’re “cop boots.”

I picked up a pair a while back when I was looking for general “kick around the shop and out in the boonies” boots.  I have a pair of steel-toes, but you don’t always need steel-toe protection, and they’re awfully heavy.  Since I’m not really much of a fashion guy — at least when it comes to work boots – I decided to pick a pair the same way I pick a musical instrument: by how they feel and work, not how they look.  I ended up with these because they work exactly as advertised.

Reader Find: Redwing Boots

Rick’s got another one for us: “I was in the market for some new shoes, and decided I wanted to give a try to some US-made Redwing Boots.  They’re a Christmas present, so I’ve yet to try them, although the dealer really made sure that they fit correctly and that they were comfortable for me.  I’ll let you know after Christmas.  I liked them because they were Steel toe, but they didn’t look like serious work boots. The sole isn’t as deep as regular workboots so you won’t track snow and all kinds of crap into the office.  I work in a corporate casual environment so I can pull these off with a pair of Khakis.  I think of these as a Gentleman’s work boot.

“On a side note.. what’s up with all of these tool manufacturers [branding] work boots?  Here are some pictures I took of some Craftsman, Dewalt, DieHard?, CAT, and Dickies foot wear.  Dickies I can kind of see, but the rest? What’s a battery brand doing on a boot?”
