It’s been a busy week here at Toolmonger. If you’ve been spending time in the shop — you should! — and you haven’t had a chance to keep up with Toolmonger this week, we suggest you start with these posts, which our readers helped to select:

Talk about Doh! I look back fondly on December of ’08. I look back on it fondly because it was the last time my shop was functional. It’s my own fault. Seriously, take a look at this picture and tell me this is the shop of someone on the ball. This, quite frankly, is what [...]

Growing up in the video-game era, I can honestly say that most of the time I heard the phrase, “Drop a new engine in it,” I got the idea that it was something that takes about twenty minutes and suddenly you could turn a Yugo into a GTO. After all, you could do it in [...]

Every time I watch Ax Men I remember why I’m not in the logging business: loggers don’t have good days. Okay days are when no one gets hurt and you think you might still have a job next week. Most days, or at least the ones we see on the show, begin or end with [...]

After watching this week’s FuBar III demolition demonstration, one reader commented that he’s surprised none of us was injured. Guess what? I was. You can’t see it in the video when it happens, but at one point I put the FuBar completely through the wall and caught my thumb on the wall itself. (I was [...]

Remember old-school Toolmonger that was all young, dumb and full of… vigor? So do we. Check out what we were discussing a year ago this week:
A friend of ours owned up to once conceiving the brilliant idea of cleaning his pilot-light-equipped cooktop with WD-40. Doh!
We suggested that you buy an ice scraper for your car [...]

We ran across Bosch’s “Dimpler,” a drywall screw setter that attaches to pretty much any power driver, leaving screws at their perfect depth every time.
We posted an early “Doh!” in [...]

We touted ProVision’s “Eagle” fiber optic scope as a great way to look inside that engine for just $225 — a lot cheaper than a tear down. Now Ridgid makes [...]

Friend of Toolmonger (and sometimes contributor) Lorenzo sent us a link to this crazy piece of news and accompanying photo. If you look carefully at the above photo, you’ll notice that inside the yellow circle is a full-size bulldozer.
Apparently the operators cranked up this monster to move it without first locating and securing all the [...]

From what I hear, a crane operator over-extended his load, toppling the crane and dumping its load on this hapless Toyota. Check the link below for more photos, though be warned: They’re hosted by a site that’s advertising bent and not always safe for work. That said, the linked page was SFW when I last [...]

I came across this on Digg this morning. Apparently no one owned up to actually being related parentally to the kids in the photo, though that’s probably no surprise.
Just a thought: What if it’s not their living room?

And you wonder why most workers would rather crap in a bathtub or piss in the bushes than use the PortaJohns on most jobsites. Now you know.

This one’s self-explanatory. I’ve seen a number of “accidents” with Bobcat-style small loaders; for some reason, most people don’t think they require the same care in operation as their larger cousins.
Look at it this way — at least he wasn’t shoveling poo.
Still no response on an opportunity for Sean to check out a real bulldozer. [...]

The Herald Sun reports that “two firefighters and a third person were treated for burns after sparks from a grinder started a fire in Tasmania’s north” yesterday. Sadly, this is something with which I have some experience.
A number of years ago, I was trying to build my first trailer — a sad steel-and-plywood affair that [...]
