Preview: Milwaukee 360 Degree Inspection Camera
Ah, the inspection camera. It’s like an unwritten law; you can put this tool in a room with 30 guys and every one of them has the same thought at the same time: “Let’s put this camera somewhere it’s not supposed to go.” At the Milwaukee event they actually had a toilet there for us to snake so we didn’t have to bother dragging it to one. Fun and games aside, the 2313-21 inspection camera is a serious bit of gear — and it’s now armed with a 360 degree rotating screen.
As you might expect from a high-end inspection rig like this, the 2313 checks all the hotlist boxes. It boasts a 2.7″ high-res color display with a image sensor pixel density of 640 x 480 (the display res is 320 x 240 by the way) and a 9mm camera head. It’s waterproof, hence the toilet, and gas and oil “resistant” with a 3′ cable length. The party piece is the rotating display — which sounds like a nothing add-on until you’re crammed in a tight spot with limited space to position the inspector and need to get a good look at the screen. Then a swivel sounds like a sweet plan.
The price point will be over the $200 mark; we’re guessing around $200 – $275. For the kit, that includes the 2313-21 M12 M-Spector 360, 1 red lithium battery, a charger, hook, and a magnet & mirror.

I have the original one from Rigid and boy does it come in handy. This one looks like it has better resolution. I may have to upgrade.
I just ordered the boroscope cited by Ian in the recent thread about cameras. @ <$30 it doesn't have to be HD capable, and there are a couple of reasons it may be more useful. It, too, is waterproof, and sports a 5 meter cord. Being tethered to a tablet or laptop sounds cumbersome, but my hope is that I will be able to use the wifi capabilities of my Andriod phone in conjunction w/ a laptop to expand the possibilities. I'll keep you "posted"
Hmmm…..
Even with insurance, this is a LOT cheaper than a colonoscopy at the hospital.
