It’s Just Cool: Robotic Paintball Gun

Put the present down, and back away from the tree. From Inspector Bots via Gizmodo comes this unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), complete with a wireless barrel-cam mounted on its Mil-Sim A5 Paintball gun. The barrel-cam is a low-lux color camera with night vision (“You can see up to 35 ft. in total darkness!”). This 4WD UGV, which can go more than 50 mph, is teleoperated with first person view (FPV) where you control the vehicle as though you were in it. In addition to paintballs, the weapons system can also fire pepperballs and hardened rubber rounds — those will leave a mark — with a range up to 250 feet or more. It’s designed for law enforcement personnel for applications like riot control, tactical SWAT, hostage situations, and surveillance, but I think it would be a great addition to the garage or shop, and handy to have around if Sean shows up to borrow some tools.
Inspector Bots makes a variety of other bots (Mega Bot and Delta Unit, to name two), and their web site has some interesting videos. Prices seem to start around $4,000 so these things are not your average toy.

It sure looks cool, but why the the red/green dot scope? Some real short guy gonna walk behind it to aim it? It already has a “barrel camera” mounted in front of the site.
Still… I want one too. I wonder if I can mount a paintball gun on my rc-10….
Seems to me you could just walk up behind this thing, and toss a net over it. Game over.
At 50 MPH I think you would need to run to keep up …….
Remote-operated bots aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but it’s still oh so awesome!
When they make one that can do the sanding, and bring you a cold one at the end of the day I’m in. The shooting stuff part I can handle myself.
This inspires me to build one but with a marsmellow gun.
