Dealmonger: Cobra Toilet Auger
By Nick CarterAmazon has the Cobra Toilet Auger for 75 cents, a whopping 94% off the normal list price of $11.99.
The deal likely isn’t that great as it sells through acehardwareoutlet and shipping is on the order of $8.50, but then again that’s still pretty cheap compared to other prices plus shipping. It’s best to check your local hardware store first, though.
Toilet Augers are simple tools for dealing with a somewhat disgusting and annoying problem. Here’s a good guide to their use should you need it spelled out.

I’m nearly certain I’ve seen these at walmart for around 7 bucks - so shipping really kills this deal

I can’t tell you how many calls we go on that are easily solved with this tool. We carry the General Wire brand - in 2 sizes one for commodes and the other (shorter version for urinals - yes some folks try to flush junk down these too). General wire now makes one with extra long extension springs - to reach further down. Ours have brass tubes and are built for everyday use - but the type pictured and the ones they sell at Home Depot should be more than adequate for homeowners - to fish out things like the scrub rag that accidently went down with the water from the bucket. Of course even these won’t always work (we’ve had to remove commodes to dislodge 1/2 grapefruits, toy battleships etc.

Be gentle (when using these).
