Gave my mom a pair of those. Within a year, one of the blades snapped at the pivot.

I have 2 pairs. One pair I purchased from Homie's and another pair I I found. It looks like over the years they changed the mechanism to close the snips. On the pair I purchased about 3 years ago there was a a rubber sleeve that was used to keep the sheers closed for storage. Not a good idea if you loose the cover. With the newer model they incorporated a latch for this purpose.

I think they are great for deadheading herbaceous plants and maybe even some small diameter woody plants.

I've had several pairs of these as backup to my (expensive)
Japanese made bonsai scissors.

They're a great value for the price, and I can leave them out
in the yard without a second thought.

They stay quite sharp, do dull a bit over time (but not bad
at all).

I'd buy a pair again if, say, the raccoons in the yard
absconded with the current pair.....
