eHobbyTools.com is selling a variety of spring-loaded sanding sticks for $2.50 apiece. Used with a 1/4″ wide abrasive belt, the angled nose allows you to sand in nooks and crannies. You rotate the belt by hand to expose fresh abrasive.

Sprayglue some sandpaper to a lolly stick or tounge depressor, this also has the benifit that you can shape the stick to exactly the shape you need. Glue multiple sticks together if you need it stronger or use one stick on its own if you want it to flex around a curve or something.

I usually pick up the nearest scrap of wood, or even a flat bladed screwdriver, & wrap sandpaper over the end. I either hold it in place by hand as I use it, or if it’s a bigger job I tape it on. Agree with Jaxx on custom shapes!

Agreed. That is by far the cheapest method.
