Wavy-Edge Sanding Discs
By Benjamen Johnson
The edge of regular sanding discs can dig into your prized work, but New Wave sanding discs have wavy edges that curl over the side of the sanding pad, so the edge doesn’t come in contact with the workpiece.
The high-quality sanding discs are constructed from flexible C-weight paper with a loop backing. The manufacturer coats the paper with a stearate lubricant to keep the aluminum oxide grit from clogging, extending the useful life of the sanding disc.
The discs are available in sizes to fit 2″ and 3″ sanding pads in a wide variety of grits for about $5 a ten-pack. For $58 Woodcraft also sells a 3″ bowl sanding kit with a 1/4″ shank, Velcro sanding pad, a hard and a soft interface pad, and 25 sanding discs of 80, 120, 150, 180, and 220 grits.
