It is too bad that this does not happen more often. Not enought parents do projects with thier kids. Even more sad is that less and less of the "parents"" out there have any basic tool skills. Now I like working with kids who may not know much, and what I like to do is tell them what result we want, what tools and materials we have, and several ways I can think of to get that result. I tell 'em to come get me if they need anything, and I go away. I kind of keep an eye on things, but I try to stay out of the way. You might not get exactly what you want, and you might have to redo some things, but you get something done and somebody who feels like they can do something out of it. When I was a kid nobody really put a lot of effort into teaching us how to do things, but I remember being given a coffee can full of bent nails and a hammer when I was real little and it taught me that I could participate on some level, and I learned a little frugality as well. I figure I owe it to the world or something to try to pass on some of the little bit I know about things.
