Save Your Shop From Wildfires
By Paul Lapczynski
Wildfires leave destruction in their wake, but you can protect all your hard work with a little insurance — Barricade fire gel. You mix the gel with water from your garden hose, then spray it on your house and even your lawn to create an encapsulated wet blanket that’ll block fire for up to 24 hours.
You’ll need to coat your walls with about 1/4″ of the stuff to be effective, but if your roof has asphalt shingles you can skip spraying that. One gallon of Barricade will cover 500-700 square feet of surface area. The home kit contains four gallons of gel, a special application nozzle, and an instruction video. It’ll also work on vehicles, boats, and LP and propane tanks.
The dilemma for Toolmongers: If you can spray only one building, do you spray the house or the shop?
The Barricade home kit sells for about $300.

That is brilliant, especially at that price. People would be happy to pay five times as much for that kit.

The Shop, can’t remember half the ’stuff’ in the house!
