I've known a lot of instrument and electronic technicians who just wiped the tip of their soldering iron on their pants leg. I can see some of the theoretical advantages over a wet sponge, but most people can't solder well enough, use a good enough iron, or good enough solder, or work on anything critical enough for it to make a difference. But if it makes you happy, buy it and enjoy it. That's all the reason you need. And you have my respect doing so. I picked up one like this from Jamco.com a few years ago and love it. They work better than described. Something so simple, yet works so great, THUMBS UP!
