End “Numb Thumb” Syndrome?
By Benjamen Johnson
If you’re the type of painter who likes to cut in with the original one-gallon paint can by looping your thumb through the bell wire and supporting the can with your palm, ProVision Tools offers a neat little gadget for you. Their PiviT Thumb Tool clips onto the wire bell handle to give you a more ergonomic grip and more control of the paint can.
We’ll dispense with ProVision Tools’ claim that the Thumb Tool eliminates “numb thumb” or hand fatigue and just give you the facts. The Thumb Tool’s concave side fits the curve of the can and gives you better control of it. The thumb loop securely holds the bell wire, and it also brings your thumb closer to your palm so you aren’t stretching your thumb as far.
You can purchase the Thumb Tool directly from ProVision Tools’ website for $2.25 each, but you have to buy a minimum of two and pay $.75 to ship each one. That brings the price to $6 if you want to try one. If you’re in Tennessee or outside the US you’re going to get hit with additional costs.

Well, because no real painter wants to contaminate the paint bucket.

Amen to that.
My painting sub will mix all his 1 gallon cans into 5 gallon batches and then pour out the amount to be used into smaller pails - always working from the small pails.
