		<description>What I did not say was that the vise picture was apparently installed by a photographer not a woodworker - because it sits proud of the bench face - and seems to have been installed somewhat in from the end of the bench.</description>

Woodworking vises usually get set into the end (tail) oe front (face) of the bench - allowing enough room fo maple faces - such that the rear vise/face sits flush with the bench.

If your inclined you can rout some "V" grooves into the wood in both the vertical and horzontal direction to help hold round objects.</description>
