Anyone have any experience using any of the mini-backhoes? I need a small lightweight model to mount on a small barge for cleaning out my boat slip. Mostly silt and clay in the slip. I'm also looking at the Gopher mini out of Oregon. Thanks for any help.

I had to go back and look at the other pics again, but you're right about single shear. How much more would it have cost to make it a double? Couldn't be that much. Wonder how many hours that takes off the life of the ram?

The bucket linkage at the end of the ram is mounted in single shear. NICE! That'll last a long time...

Re eschoendorff Says:

Amen to needing to know the specs.

Our lightweight machine is a Daewoo 140 only good for 19,000 lbs - but its a "lightweight" at 15tons.
Swing torque is also useful to know

Problem is that, if you go to the Collins site, they leave out a lot of essential detail in their specifications... like breakout force, for instance.

I would be very skeptical of this machine....
