Prepare For Winter Now
By J.R. Bluett
You may think it’s too early to prepare for winter weather, but better now than when the cold’s closing in. Exposed pipe needs protection from freezing, and in some places even the pipes in outer wall closets and cabinets are at risk. This Wrap-On heat tape makes it easy to prevent burst and frozen pipes. The thermostat on these heat tapes is set for 38 degrees, so you can install ‘em now and wait for the cold without significant power draw.
Wrap-On makes heat tape in lengths from three feet to 100 feet, and the price depends on the size — but the value is huge.

You prepare for winter your way and I’ll prepare for winter my way. Those condos in Sarasota or quiet inland places like Hudson, Florida are as cheap as they have ever been.

those things have been known to burn a house or two down, better off doing proper insulation.

If your plumbing and insulation was done properly than you dont have any need fore those regardless of the outside temperature. If your furnace breaks down and you dont use any water you can have problems after days with pipe freezing and bursting so its reccomend you drain and shut off your water before leaving on winter vacations. If you lost power while away these things would die anyways so i dont see a point for these unless your house wanst built properly.

Isn’t there a use for these in an old house with an uninsulated stone cellar. By next winter I am going to be in a house like that. All the water pipes are down below so I was going to use these.
