I'm partial to the name coming from the often repeated work site phrase, "Hey Bob! Hand me that rebar bending doohickey, would ya?" Was there/is there a company named Hickey that became prominent in the manufacture of conduit benders and the brand name stuck to all pretenders like the brand name Coke as we used to apply to all soft drinks.
