Memorial Day Pegboard
By J.R. Bluett
Memorial Day is past, but I say there’s no time like the present to work on converting all you pegboard haters — and anyway, Fourth of July is almost here! Alligator Board offers metal pegboards and accessories in many varieties, but this specialty item really caught my eye. Whether your patriotism is flashy or not, this pegboard will set the record straight and put you back on the red-blooded-American list.
Alligator Board sells the flag pegboard for $200, plus $34 shipping.

Stars! Details, schmeetails! You don’t want to go dating your pegboard, do you? Announcing how many states there were when you installed it? What if you’re a Toolmonger/History Buff and you want yours with 20 stars to comemorate Indiana joining the union?

…. Or you can grab a Snap and Spray, three cans of paint, some painter’s masking tape and an old piece of pegboard and DIY!

$234!?!?! For $20 of pegboard and paint??? For that price the least they could do was include stars.
Good lord there must be a lot of patriotic suckers out there.

It’s not fiberboard pegboard, but metal pegboard, which is much more expensive; Gator Board sells 2 16″x32″ panels for $47, and this is about 2.5x as much area. So you’re “merely” paying about a 100% markup instead of a 1000% markup as you think.
Of course, I’ve never had any problems with fiberboard pegboard, even hanging things like string trimmers, FUBARs, etc from them, so I don’t know why people want to pay the extra money.
