The differences between the regular Skeletool and the CX are the serrated blade on the CX and the (much cooler looking) dark anodized frame color. Weight is identical and the carbon fiber part is just tacked on, although done tastefully. I have had many compliments on mine, and highly recommend it. I have not carried a leatherman in years because they were always too heavy and bulky to every day carry. I have been carrying the CX for about a month now, and use it many times daily as a computer tech.
The differences between the regular Skeletool and the CX are the serrated blade on the CX and the (much cooler looking) dark anodized frame color. Weight is identical and the carbon fiber part is just tacked on, although done tastefully.

It is there only as an accent piece. The Zytel in the upcoming Freestyle may shed a few grams, but more likely the additional weight-saving comes from the absence of the bit driver and spare bit. In addition, the Freestyle seems to lack the pocket/belt clip. Additionally, the CX's blade is of a slightly different than that of the non-CX Skeletool. The difference in alloys means that the CX's blade holds a sharp edge for longer than the non-CX. BUT given that the CX's blade is partially serrated, it is a bit more difficult to sharpen than a full plain edge blade. These minutia are responsible for the $20 MSRP price difference between the regular and CX versions. Bottom line, $64 is a kick-ass price for the Skeletool CX. The carbon fiber in the CX would make it only marginally lighter than the non-CX version. It is there only as an accent piece.
